Search for non - Poissonian behavior in nuclear β decay
We performed two independent counting experiments on a β-emitting source of 151 62 Sm by measuring the γ photon emitted in a fraction of the decays. For counting times ranging from 10 to 5.12 × 10 seconds, our measurements show no evidence of deviations from Poissonian behavior and, in particular, no sign of 1/f noise. These measurements put strong limits on non-Poissonian components of the flu...
متن کاملNuclear matrix elements of ββ decay from β-decay data
The evaluation of the nuclear matrix elements (NME) of the twoneutrino double beta (2νββ) decay and neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay using the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) is addressed. In particular, the extraction of a proper value of the proton-neutron particle-particle interaction parameter, gpp, of this theory is analyzed in detail. Evidence is show...
متن کاملthe search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame
this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
15 صفحه اولSearch for Radiative β-Decay of the Free Neutron
Results of the first experiment to search for the radiative decay mode of the free neutron are reported. The γ-spectrum was studied in the energy region from 35 keV to 100 keV in six Cs(Tl) scintillators, each set at an angle of 35° to, and shielded from, a central plastic scintillator electron detector. Triple coincidences were recorded with recoil protons detected in a micro-channel plate. A ...
متن کاملHidden evidence of non-exponential nuclear decay
The framework to describe natural phenomena at their basics being quantum mechanics, there exist a large number of common global phenomena occurring in different branches of natural sciences. One such global phenomenon is spontaneous quantum decay. However, its long time behaviour is experimentally poorly known. Here we show, that by combining two genuine quantum mechanical results, it is possi...
